Democrats and Republicans alike are now embracing the idea that their parties’ divisions need to be healed, and the party’s platform should focus on issues like ending discrimination and promoting inclusion.
The Democratic Party is finally ready to tackle the GOP’s long-held ideological divide.
It is time for the party to embrace an inclusive and inclusive platform for the 2020 election that reflects the views of all Americans, and reflects the values of the Democratic Party.
This platform should be designed to unite the parties and give all Americans a voice in the electoral process.
The platform should include a commitment to: The creation of a new Democratic Party focused on working with and for working-class Americans.
A commitment to working with Congress and state legislatures to enact progressive policies that include a public option, expanding paid family leave, expanding Social Security, and strengthening public schools.
The party should recognize that the path to achieving progress in America is not a linear one, but a progressive one that begins with a progressive tax system, a living wage, a fair shake for families and workers, a Medicare for All single-payer system, and an end to Citizens United and other corporate welfare giveaways.
If the Democratic party is to be the party of the people, it must move to the center.
As the party faces an unprecedented wave of populist discontent, it has to start with a bold new vision for the Democratic future.
We cannot rely on past failures to bridge our party’s divides and then hope to be taken seriously in 2020.
It is time to change that and make the Democratic National Committee a vehicle for making progress on issues that matter to the people and our future.
Democrats are proud of the party we built over the past century, but we cannot be complacent about what’s possible in the next few years.
We must continue to build bridges to a progressive future, build new pathways forward, and build the most inclusive Democratic Party in American history.
To build a progressive Democratic Party that will build a country that works for everyone and not just the 1%, we need to begin by building a progressive vision that reflects our values and our priorities.
